Most experienced outdoors sportsmen have been tested in the traditional species: deer, waterfowl, and small game. However, being that the country stretches from sea to shining sea, there are also alternative seasons spread across the continent neighbors that you may never had thought imaginable.

Little has changed for the gator since dinosaurs walked the planet—the American crocodilian is the apex predator of freshwater ponds, rivers, and lakes of the U.S. Southeast. Largely hunted out of existence, they were listed as endangered in the 1970s then amazingly sprang back to where they are now crowding out their habitat from Texas to South Carolina. With that in mind, a few states are allowing hunting of these enormous lizards, which can grow to as much as 15-feet in length and kill even experienced trappers. While some states such as Mississippi are off limits to non-resident hunters, others such as Florida , Texas, and Georgia allow out of staters to take these big brown-water monsters with the proper permits and, in the case of Louisiana, approved guides.
